In 2008 and 2009 there were a couple dozen websites that provided news on Greece. Most of these websites had a lack of depth in their coverage of real Greek news. Since the onset of the Euro Crisis, most of these sites have been shuttered. However, because of the global implications of the Euro Crisis and Greece's place at the epicenter of it, the English language coverage of Greece, its economy and social fabric has reached an unprecedented scale. Several top tier news sources have dedicated significant resources to their journalistic efforts in Greece. Here is a list of just a few them as well as some of the websites that have survived:
The New York Times: Greek Coverage
FT.com Euro Area Crisis
The Guardian Greece Crisis
Wall Street Journal: Greece
The Telegraph
Ekathimerini.com
The National Herald
The Pappas Post
Odyssey
Neos Kosmos
Neo
Greek Boston
Cyprus Mail
Xpat Athens
Efxinos Pontos
Given the hardships of the crisis, several charities have been set up or have come to prominence out of necessity, here are a few:
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has several ways for people to contribute both their time and financial resources
AHEPA is always a good resource for finding ways to help
The Greek America Foundation
Desmos is new on the scene, here is an article written about them from The Guardian
